"I see dreams and i'm staying there, i'm staying in them"
Ukraine has won an edition of Veritons Song Contest for the 5th time, this time with another great artist from this beautiful country. Mykola Bortnyk (or Max Barskih) made his debut in performing on the Ukrainian talent show "Fabrika Sirok 2" (Star Factory 2). Later, in 2010, he was nominated the best performer on the Ukrainian version of MTV Europe Music Awards, also being named "Singer of the Year" at the annual award ceremony of the "Crystal Microphone". In 2012, he entered the Eurovision Song Contest Auditions for Ukraine with the English version of his song 'Dance' but inevitably lost to Gaitana who represented Ukraine in Baku with her song 'Be My Guest'.
It was not Max's first try to conquer the VSC trophy. He debuted in VSC18 with his song "Agony" and later he made a comeback along with Svetlana Loboda, performing "Heart Beats". Both entries got 25th place and a really low score. "Third time's the charm" works pretty well for this young artist, because his 146 points score this edition is not only the biggest in VSC76, but also in Top 30 biggest scores in the history of the contest.
The current ukrainian head of delegation has remained the same since Ukraine's last win and he is, of course, bry3cr0eko, who made possible (by sending those entries) 2 of 4 ukrainian wins. He also carved in stone the name of Moldova in the winner's list forever, more than 30 editions ago.
Speaking of top 3, this time it was completed by Finland with Janna's "Sä et ole hullu " and 121 points, and Jamaica (for the first time ever) with Willy William's "Te Quiero" and 115 points. An interesting fact to note, this edition Finland was a runner-up under a new head of delegation, Krishoes. Congratulations to both of you!
Another edition ends and with it the story of 34 songs being sung on the stage of Zurich, the story of Denisa's first sole hosting (which was a marvellous one btw!) and, of course, the story of yet another star to shine as the previous winner so let's give the last round of applause for Stefanie Heinzmann and to the nation of Switzerland!
See you all in Ukraine!
