Suceava County has come to an end tonight. Out for 30 participants, only 29 managed to send their votes, Ireland officially announcing their withdrawal a day after they failed to vote.
The winner of this edition is..well...the host-country itself! Alexandra Stan and Havana made the entire nation proud when they shined on the stage in Vicovu de Sus with the song "Écoute" that received 147 points.
Alexandra Stan (born 10 June 1989) is a Romanian singer and songwriter. Born in the city of Constanța, she made her worldwide breakthrough with her 2011 single "Mr. Saxobeat".
"Écoute" is a song recorded by Romanian recording artist Alexandra Stan for her second studio album, Alesta (2015). Featuring the vocal collaboration of Romanian band Havana, it was released on 9 March 2016 through Victor Entertainment together with its parent album. The lyrics of the recording were written in both English and French by Nadir Tamuz, Alexandra Tirtirau, Sorin Seniuc and Vanotek, with the track being produced by Luigi Enciu. "Écoute" portrays a dance song which incorporates tropical beats and oriental elements in its instrumentation; according to Stan, its lyrics delve on "pure love, without barriers, which does not limit you."
Speaking of the runner-up and third place, both belong to the North American continent.
Leave it to Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy to perfectly capture what a freshly shredded heart feels like. Case in point: their powerful ballad, “Ecos de Amor” that represented Mexico this edition and score 146 points and 2nd place.
While the Suicide Squad-themed edition was in Lyon, the United States tried to ride the hype bandwagon and sent "Gangsta" - a song by American singer and songwriter Kehlani that serves as the fourth and final single from the Suicide Squad soundtrack. The song received 143 points, leaving a big gap between itself and 4th place (Serbia), that scores 98 points.
