Selecţia Naţională Eurovision România 2016 will be held in Sala Sporturilor, Baia Mare. There will be two shows : a Semi-final on 4th March and a Grand Final on 6th March.
This year, the procedure of selecting the Romanian entry will be different. Twelve songs will be performed in the Semi-final and only six of them will qualify to the Grand Final: four selected by a professional jury and two by the public (via televote).
In the Grand Final of Selecţia Naţională 2016, the public is the only one who is going to choose the 2016 Romanian entry.
Iuliana Marciuc will be the producer of the Selecţie for the second year in a row and she will also lead the Romanian delegation in Stockholm.
The city of Baia Mare lies in the north-west Romania (600 kilometres from the capital, Bucharest), along the Săsar River, not far from the border with Hungary (70km) and Ukraine (50km). The city is also a hometown of Paula Seling, a Romanian singer and composer, who represented her country twice in the Eurovision Song Contest, together with Ovi, in 2010 and 2014.
The 12 entries selected by TVR are:
