Four years ago, nobody even thought we will get to the 10th edition. But look at us now, ending the 100th Anniversary Edition in Los Angeles, the United States!
We've come a long way, haven't we? From Zurich 01 to Los Angeles 100, we've been to (almost) all the continents (sorry Africa!). Some countries are still the Zeros of our times, with zero winnings after so many editions.
That is not the case of Germany, that now scores their second victory after Rammstein in VSC50. Robin Schulz is a record producer, musician and DJ. Most of his songs make use of manual guitar riffs. On 4 February 2014, he released the first single from his debut album, a remix of "Waves" by Dutch hip hop artist Mr Probz. This remix later received a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
The winning song - called "Show me love" - is part of the second album of Schulz's called "Sugar". It received 124 points, with one more than the runner-up
Speaking of the second place of the 100th edition, it was achieved by Colombia, with the song "Vente Pa' Ca" by Ricky Martin featuring Maluma. The most successful artist in Colombia has returned once again, so close to win but yet so far. The song received 123 points.
Top 3 was completed by Romania, with Lariss' "Epana". Larisa Borza, better known as Lariss is Romanian a pop-dance singer, from Romania. She was born in Iasi, “the city of poetry”, but few years ago she moved to Bucharest, “the city of everything”. Before "Dale papi" she’ve played different types of music, such as jazz, traditional music, soul, pop, reggae, r’n’b and so on.
Thank you for being with us for the last 100 editions, the ones that joined in the first edition and also the ones that joined later. We hope to continue this contest as long as possible - or as long there is an interest to keep it going.
The German Broadcaster NDR welcomes us all in Bremen, for the opening of a new chapter for the contest. Beer is included!
