It wouldn't have a been a proper edition hosted by Sweden without an important change of rules. After introducing the running order that is determined by producers back in Malmö 2013, now the changes are in the area of voting.
In previous years the results of the professional juries and viewers have been presented as a combined result, each accounting for 50 percent of the final score. From 2016, the professional juries and televoters from each country will each award a separate set of points from 1 to 8, 10 and 12.
How does it work?
After viewers have cast their votes, each spokesperson from the 43 participating countries will be called in to present the points of the professional jury. After this presentation, the televoting points will be combined and then be announced by the host, starting with the country receiving the fewest points from the public.
Is this system better?
In the last few days we've seen lots of arguments, either for or against, there is a thing going in the right direction: the jury vote has been reversed to the 2009-2012 state when only their top 10 counts and now it's more "exposed" to the public, the days of condemning a song to 27th place and forever 0 points even with 1st place from public are gone.
What do you think about this drastic change?
