The 90th edition of Veritons Song Contest has finally come to an end and the results show hosted in the Stadion Lapad in Dubrovnik crowned Albania as the winner.
Elhaida Dani (born 17 February 1993) is an Albanian singer. She rose to fame after winning Star Academy Albania in 2009, and Top Fest in 2012. Later that year, she auditioned for The Voice of Italy, and won the show with over 70% of the public vote.
In December 2014 she won the 53rd edition of Festivali i Këngës with the song "Diell" ("Sun"),and was going to represent Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria with this song. The next day it was revealed that the song would be called "I'm Alive".
Dani returned in 2016 with the song "I'm Alive", after her result in Eurovision Song Contest was extremely dissapointing (17th place), trying her luck on the VSC stage. Elhaida not only surpassed her ESC score, but she won the hearts of the participating countries. "I'm Alive" scored 168 points, now being the 22th most successful song in the history of the contest.
The runner-up of the 90th Veritons Song Contest is South Africa with "Kill, Fuck, Marry" performed by Nikki Williams, her debut single which was produced by Stargate and co-written by Sia. Williams was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and she married Nicolas Cage's son Weston in 2011, now divorced. "Kill, Fuck, Marry" scored 156 points.
And, finally, third place went to Ireland, after a long time missing from top 3, thanks to the band Kodaline, featuring Kygo, the entry being entitled "Raging". There is no rage for the irish people tonight, 'cause they've scored 149 points!
